Verification, Licences and Insurance

What providers must prove before they can list and take bookings, and what happens when evidence expires.

Version 2.0 · Effective 28 July 2026

The official legal document is provided in English.

Artistover is operated by Artistover Limited, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 17285593, whose registered office is at 167-169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London, W1W 5PF, United Kingdom.

Customers book people they have never met to work at their events, sometimes in their homes and sometimes around their children. This policy sets out what we check and what you must hold.

1. What every provider must complete

Before a listing can go live and take bookings, every provider must complete identity verification and payout setup. Payout setup includes the business and identity checks our payment provider is required by financial regulation to carry out.

Identity verification confirms that the person controlling the account is who they say they are. It does not verify the quality of the work, and we do not present it as an endorsement.

2. Category requirements

Requirements are set by category, because the risk is different. Where a requirement applies to your category, you must hold it, keep it current, and produce evidence when we ask.

  • Public liability insurance: expected for any work delivered in person.
  • Employer liability insurance: where you employ staff.
  • Food hygiene registration and rating: for catering, bars and any food service.
  • Alcohol licensing: for anyone selling or supplying alcohol.
  • Premises licence and music licensing: for venues.
  • Enhanced background checks: for anyone working unsupervised with children or vulnerable adults.
  • Professional registration: where the work is regulated, including anything medical or cosmetic that breaks the skin.
  • Specialist certification: for pyrotechnics, rigging, working at height, inflatables, animals and similar activities.
  • Vehicle and operator licensing: where transport is part of the service.

3. What verification means and does not mean

A verification badge means we have seen evidence of a specific thing at a specific time. It does not mean we have inspected the work, audited the business, guaranteed the quality, or accepted responsibility for what the provider does.

We check that a document appears genuine and current. We do not, and cannot, independently confirm every fact stated in every document.

Customers should still read the listing, read the reviews, ask questions and use their own judgement.

4. Expiry and re-verification

Insurance, licences and certifications expire. We record expiry dates where we hold them and we will remind you before they lapse.

If a required document expires, the badge is removed and, where the requirement is a condition of listing in that category, new bookings are paused until it is renewed. Confirmed bookings that depend on the lapsed cover cannot be delivered, and you must tell us and the customer.

We may ask you to re-verify at any time, in particular after a change of ownership, a complaint, a safety incident, or a change to your listing that alters what you are doing.

5. False or misleading evidence

Submitting a forged, altered, expired or borrowed document is a serious breach. It leads to immediate removal from the platform, and where it involves safety or fraud, a report to the relevant authority.

Holding a licence in one name and trading in another, or relying on cover that does not extend to the work you are actually doing, is treated the same way.

6. How your documents are handled

Identity documents and verification results are held securely and are used only for verification, safety, fraud prevention and legal compliance. They are not shown on your public profile, are not shared with customers, and are not used for marketing.

Our Provider Privacy Notice explains what is collected, how long it is kept and the rights you have over it.
